Redragon M801p Sniper Pro and M801 Sniper are designed in various dimensions to cater to their specific target audience. Some aimed at productivity-focused tasks like editing, while others are geared towards gaming. The overall design is cleverly crafted so that every part of your hand can find a comfortable resting spot on it.

The design of Redragon M801p Sniper Pro and M801 Sniper inclines the mouse slightly with the surface, setting these mice apart from conventional flat-surfaced ones. It's worth noting that only a few of the thousands of ergonomic mouse designs were smartly engineered to cater to both left and right-handed users.

DPI

Redragon M801p Sniper Pro and M801 Sniper are very similar in specifications, both can handle DPI (Dots Per Inch) adjustments of up to 16000.

These DPI adjustments can be done by using proprietary software but that can also be done by using the two buttons located below the almost frictionless scroll wheel, one that increases and one that decreases the level of DPI. Right along with DPI altering buttons is a collection of four LEDs that represent the DPI levels.

Buttons

Apart from the fundamental buttons like right and left click and the MMO buttons, there are two more buttons included in the package. One is located in the top left-hand corner of the mouse, and one is located alongside the two side buttons of the mouse.

Both the extra buttons can easily be allocated to your desired macro to perform a specific task.

RGB

Redragon M801p Sniper Pro and M801 Sniper are also provided with a minimal arrangement of RGB lights along the bottom plate perimeter, with the Redragon logo, alongside the USB Type-C port, and along the scroll wheel, for the wireless version, the scroll wheel lights up when it is plugged in. By using the software you can alter between 16.8 million breathing and floating effects for the one that fits your taste. 

ON/OFF Switch

Redragon M801p Sniper Pro and M801 Sniper are sturdy enough to handle 40G of acceleration and respond accordingly, thanks to a highly precise optical sensor, with switches that are capable enough to handle around 20 million clicks.

First Impression

When I first laid eyes on Redragon M801p Sniper Pro, the mouse didn't have that in-your-face look that I expected. Instead, it sported a sleek and minimalistic design. The device's size and shape felt comfortable in my hand – perfect for common hand sizes. Although, I can't vouch for its friendliness towards left-handed folks.

One thing that immediately caught my attention was the presence of slightly sharp or pointy edges. While I was using the mouse, I wasn't entirely sure if I could feel them or not, but if you're like me and tend to place your mouse close to your keyboard while typing, these edges might just pose a slight interruption.

Design and Build Quality

The Redragon M801p Sniper Pro and M801 Sniper's design, unlike many other Redragon products I've seen, is refreshingly minimal and aesthetically pleasing. It effortlessly blends into my overall setup.

This design seems to perfectly embody an ergonomic philosophy that caters to the palm of my hand. But here's the thing: while it's comfortable, coming from a non-ergonomic mouse background, I've found that getting used to this design takes a bit of time.

Managing the weight is where the magic happens, thanks to the eight 2.4-gram weight tuning set. If you already have a set weight configuration in mind, it's just a matter of adding or removing weights and then you're good to go. 

However, if you're like me and don't have a clue about the optimal weight your hand would fancy, then it might take a while to fine-tune your mouse to your liking.

DPI Settings

One of the standout features of this device is its non-software adjustment for DPI settings, and let me tell you, it's a real game-changer. It offers five levels of non-software-assisted DPI adjustment, making the whole process incredibly user-friendly.

Digging a bit deeper, if you're looking to fine-tune the gap between each DPI level or if you prefer having a fixed DPI setting for each level, that's when the software comes into play. 

Once you dive into the software, you can even assign a range of macros to these levels – think volume control, screen brightness adjustments, mic sensitivity tweaks, and so much more. The possibilities here are pretty darn exciting.

Buttons

The buttons on this mouse give me a satisfying and direct tactile sensation, and the scroll wheel glides smoothly and feels lightweight. When I press the buttons, my fingers don't experience any strain at all.

Speaking of buttons, there's this Rapid-Fire button that's kind of cool but feels somewhat off-axis. It's super handy for quick melee or reload actions, especially in games like Call of Duty (COD), Fortnite, and Player Unknown Battlegrounds (PUBG).

The same goes for the bottom-most side button. Both of these buttons tend to disrupt the comfy position my palm naturally settles into. It's a bit puzzling because, well, isn't an ergonomic mouse supposed to, you know, prioritize comfort?

I mean, sure, if you're a claw-style mouse user, you'll probably have an easier time reaching these buttons. But then again, why would you opt for an ergonomic mouse if you're using the claw grip? 

RGB

The RGB lights on this mouse are flawlessly integrated with a sleek and minimalist touch. You've got the power to choose from a whopping 16.8 million floating or breathing effects, and these can all be controlled through the software.

Now, at the bottom, there's a handy on/off mode switch that offers three modes. There's the standard on and off modes, and then there's the eco mode. This eco mode is interesting – when it's activated, it turns off the RGB lights and boosts the battery life. 

Personally, I'm a bit torn about this feature. I mean, it's basically an RGB light switch that you may or may not need. But hey, options are always nice to have, right?

Smooth Gliding

The presence of Teflon pads under this mouse makes its movement incredibly smooth and effortless, especially across various types of mouse pads. It's like a hassle-free glide that I can rely on.

Precision

Let's talk about the precision and accuracy of the mouse – and believe me, you're not missing out on any of those fancy advertised features. This mouse, along with its hardware, steps up to the plate and accurately captures all your moves. 

And do you feel it, especially if you're gaming on a high refresh rate monitor, The optical sensor is on point, even picking up those tiny movements that might go unnoticed by other monitors.

Connection

When it comes to the wireless version, I found that its performance remained consistent whether it was plugged in or operating wirelessly. So, no worries about losing out on performance if your battery decides to call it quits during those marathon gaming sessions.

Speaking of which, the package includes a braided USB Type-C cable that's designed to withstand some serious wear and tear. Whether it's getting dragged around while plugged in or after a long period of use, that cable still holds up strong.

Battery (Wireless Version)

Let's dive into the battery aspect. The wireless version packs a 1000 mAh Lithium Ion Battery, which seems tough enough to offer around sixty to seventy hours of gaming time as per the brand's claim. 

Although I'm inclined to believe that number holds true when the mouse is operating in eco mode with the RGB lights switched off – that's when you get the maximum battery mileage.

Now, there's a little problem I encountered – the software availability. Finding the right software for your Redragon peripheral can be a bit of a scavenger hunt. I found myself spending quite a few hours on Google trying to locate the correct one. 

Having the solution included in the manual or even the product listing would be a real lifesaver for users. Once you find the right version, the setup with the device is pretty straightforward, the layout is also easy to understand, and the features can be managed fluently.

What Other Options To Consider? 

In this price range, you'll find a bunch of great products from various brands, including Redragon.

However, let me share something I'd advise against: avoid opting for non-branded mice through drop shipping websites like AliExpress. Even in those cases, I suggest sticking to branded options. Your gaming experience will thank you for it.
