AMD’s 2 new trump cards,RADEON HD 6850 AND 6870.
AMD RADEON,once known as ATI RADEON or the king of the graphics world has just added two weapons to its arsenal of the HD 6800 series. The HD 6850 and HD 6870 are its two latest releases which AMD is hoping to be great turning point in the world of gaming.
The most important thing about this launch is that 6800s have been designed to be mid range cards instead of top range cards.People who are not aware of this change will assume that the HD 6800 cards are much faster than the GTX 460 and GTX 470.The HD 6850 is at par with the HD 5850 in some games whereas it underperforms in some games compared to the HD 5850s but with the price lower than the HD 5850s.AMD claims that these cards are the best a gamer can hope for at medium budget. The overclockability of the HD 6850 and HD 6870 has been found out to be pretty good with moderate heat being generated.

Coming to the displaying capability of these cards,AMD has made slight changes compared to its other cards. The new HD 6870s provides two DVI connections (one dual link, one single link), an HDMI 1.4a ready connection and a pair of mini-DisplayPort outputs allowing users to run four displays out of the box (two DP, two DVI).
Also with the DisplayPort 1.2 support comes a new device – the MST Hub – that will allow several DP displays to be shared off of a single DP connection from the card. DP 1.2 also allows monitors that support daisy chaining so that the user can even remove the hub device entirely.
The other new feature that D.P 1.2 provides is that it supports monitors running at different resolutions at the same time.
So at the end of the day the HD 6850 and the HD 6870 might not be the most powerful cards of AMD RADEON but it will surely be a turning point for the gamers all around the world who has ever dreamed of having a good gaming pc without spending a fortune on it.
